Perched in Green Calm

At first, there was nothing — just leaves folding into leaves, green layered upon green. The forest held its breath, and so did I. Only after slowing down did the shape reveal itself, perfectly still, perfectly placed.

The green bee-eater didn’t announce its presence. It waited. Camouflaged in calm, it reminded me that some encounters aren’t about finding — they’re about noticing
